Notice of Upcoming LACERA Retired Member Election
Election time is approaching. An election will be held this summer to fill the following positions:
- Eighth Member of the Board of Investments
- Eighth Member of the Board of Retirement
- Alternate Retired Member of the Board of Retirement
The current terms for these positions expire on December 31, 2026, and the new three‑year terms will commence on January 1, 2027. Retired Members who retired on or before April 15, 2026, are eligible to vote in the Retired Member election.
Eligible LACERA Retired Members who are interested in becoming a candidate may obtain a nomination packet from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Nomination packets will be available on or after May 22, 2026, by contacting the Elections Planning Section at 562-462-2317 or via email at ElectionPlanning@rrcc.lacounty.gov.
To qualify as a candidate, Retired Members must submit 25 nominating signatures as outlined in the nomination packet. Detailed instructions will be included with the packet.
All eligible voters may cast their ballots online, by telephone, or by paper ballot. The election period will run from August 3 through August 28, 2026. Eligible voters with a valid email address on file will receive an email with login credentials and voting instructions at the start of the election period. Retired Members who do not have an email address on file, or who have an invalid email address, will receive their voting credentials and election materials by U.S. mail prior to the voting period.
