Kaiser Permanente One-Day Strike Expected to Affect Northern California Locations
LACERA has been informed that the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) has announced a one-day strike at select Kaiser Permanente facilities in Northern California on Wednesday, March 18, with the strike scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. and conclude at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19. NUHW represents approximately 2,400 mental health professionals in the region.
The California Nurses Association and the Stationary Engineers, Local 39—a subset of the International Union of Operating Engineers—have also stated their intent to participate in a sympathy strike on the same day. Kaiser Permanente currently has active contracts with both unions.
Kaiser Permanente has indicated that some appointments may be postponed. Impacted members will be contacted directly by Kaiser to reschedule as needed.
